What Hisab is

Hisab is a bookkeeping tool for small businesses: sales, expenses, stock, VAT and turnover tax summaries.

It is not tax or legal advice. You are responsible for your records and for what you file with the Ministry of Revenues. Always confirm current tax rates with the Ministry.

Invoices and PDFs from Hisab are not Ministry of Revenues registered e-invoices.

What we store

Your sign-in email or phone number.

Your business details and books: sales, payments, expenses, stock, customers and suppliers (names, TIN, phone numbers), receipt and payment photos, and a log of who changed what.

How we use it

Only to run Hisab for you: to show your books, make reports and PDFs, and check payments you ask us to check.

We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.

Where it is kept and who sees it

Your data is stored with our hosting providers (Supabase and Vercel, in the European Union). Photos are private and shown only through short-lived links.

Only people you invite to your business can see its books, according to their role (owner, accountant or staff).

We look at your data only when you ask for help, or when needed for security or by law.

Payment checks

When you check a Telebirr payment, its transaction number is sent to Ethio telecom's public receipt page through Hisab's relay in Ethiopia, and the answer (amount, payer, receiver, date) is shown to you.

If you connect Chapa, payment links and checks go through your own Chapa account.

Checks depend on those services being available and correct; always use your judgement.

Your customers' information

You are responsible for having the right to record your customers' and suppliers' details, and for keeping them accurate.

Keeping and deleting

We keep your data while you use Hisab. You can delete records in the app, and ask us to delete your whole business.

Backup copies are kept for up to 30 days and then removed.

Security and availability

Data is encrypted in transit and protected by access rules for every business. Keep your email and phone secure, since they are how you sign in.

Hisab is provided as is. We work to keep it available and correct, but we are not responsible for losses caused by outages, mistakes in records, or third-party services.

Changes and law

We may update these terms; the date above will change and we will tell you in the app about important changes.

These terms follow the laws of Ethiopia, including its personal data protection law.
